Learn About Temporary Changes

25 October 2016

Dog walkers, ramblers and members of the general public are being invited to learn more about temporary changes being made to Auckland Park.

Auckland Castle Trust will be hosting three special briefings on Saturday 29 October, outlining minor alterations to the parkland, while restoration of the Castle is underway.

This includes the addition of a temporary haul road, which will minimise construction traffic passing through the Market Place by providing direct access to the Castle from the A688 via Binchester and north via Dial Stob Hill.

Work on the road, made out of special protective matting, will begin in November, with the route expected to be in full use from January 2017, until shortly before the Castle reopens in May 2018.

Auckland Park will remain open and safe for the public to use during that time and anyone wanting to know more is invited to attend the free sessions on Saturday (29 October), hosted by Liz Fisher, Operations Director, Auckland Castle Trust.

These will be held in the entrance lounge at the Castle’s Library Tea Room and repeated at 10am, 12pm and 2pm.
