Key Dates To Keep In Mind

7 September 2016

This Autumn, Auckland Castle will begin the next chapter in its illustrious 900 year history.

In order to allow for major restoration works to take place, the Castle will close to daily visits from 30 September 2016, with the Library Tearoom closing in December.

The Castle will be closed on 27 and 28 September 2016 and the Library Tea Room will be closed from the 26-28 September 2016, due to private events.

The restoration works, supported by the Auckland Castle Trust and Heritage Lottery Fund, are due for completion by May 2018, at which time Auckland Castle will re-open to the public in all its opulent splendour.

In the meantime you can stay up to date with all the developments via the website, where we will be uploading news, images and film of the restoration.

There will also be a number of events running throughout the Castle’s closure, including a Heritage Skills Festival (15 and 16 October 2016), Autumn Adventures during October half term, a Christmas Food and Craft Market (18 – 20 November 2016), behind the scenes hard hat tours and various food events in the Library Tearoom, which remains open at Auckland Castle until Christmas 2016.
