Half-term family fun in County Durham

19 October 2017

Thrill seekers, art lovers and craft enthusiasts will all have plenty to keep them occupied at The Auckland Project this autumn.

Family-friendly art activities, heritage craft workshops and a Halloween event to remember all make up a packed programme of activities in Bishop Auckland.

This Halloween, visitors can step into the shadows of Auckland Castle, Bishop Auckland and come face to face with figures from local myth and legend.

All Hallows’ Walk will see characters from the region’s history brought back to life on Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28.

A 30-strong cast gathered together from Bishop Auckland College, St John’s School and Sixth Form and W.A.S.H Youth Theatre, will be transformed into historical characters each evening.

Now in its fourth year, All Hallows’ Walk is organised by local community arts organisation Daisy Arts, in partnership with The Auckland Project.

If ghostly goings-on don’t appeal, youngsters can get creative throughout the half-term week with Put Yourself in the Picture, a programme of family-friendly art activities.

The drop-in workshops will be held at the new Mining Art Gallery in Bishop Auckland
