Thursday 25 May 2017 - Sunday 31 December 2017
Just outside the Castle walls, in Bishop Auckland Market Place, we will be hosting a number of past, present and future tours, outlining the history of some of the town’s most beautiful buildings and providing an insight into how many are now being transformed as part of The Auckland Project’s multi-million pound revitalisation scheme.
This includes the former Old Bank Chambers, soon to re-open as a mining art gallery, the old Backhouse Bank and Barrington School buildings, which are being combined to create a Spanish art gallery launching in 2019 and Number 10 Market Place, which will house the Zurbarán Research Centre for Spanish and Latin American Art and Culture, created in partnership with Durham University.
Tours leave from No.42 every Thursday 12.30-1.30pm, Friday 2.00-3.00, Saturday 11.00-12.00.
